RITTENHOUSE SQUARE FLOWER MARKET
Held annually in early May, the Rittenhouse Square Flower Market is organized by The Rittenhouse Square Flower Market for Children’s Charities. Founded in 1914 as The Rittenhouse Flower Market Association, in 2008, the name was changed to The Rittenhouse Square Flower Market for Children’s Charities, to better explain to the community the purpose of the Market. Since its inception, The Rittenhouse Square Flower Market for Children’s Charities, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been comprised solely of volunteers and has raised in excess of $1.6 million. Held on two consecutive days in May, this event has become a longstanding Philadelphia tradition—in fact, the Flower Market is the oldest continuously-held event in Rittenhouse Square. At The Flower Market, committee members, beneficiaries, nonprofits, and commercial vendors sell a variety of brightly-colored flowering, standing and hanging plants, flower-related crafts, and savory herbs.
