Plan an Event

Rittenhouse Square is governed by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and a permit from them is required for any event taking place in the park. Each year Philadelphia Parks & Recreation receives hundreds of requests to use the Square, and the number of actual events permitted is minimal because most disrupt the greater public usage of the park.

Rittenhouse Square is a non-recreational public space, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will not issue permits for personal social events or gatherings including wedding ceremonies, receptions, birthday parties, picnics, graduation parties, photo shoots, classes, camps, etc.

Any event, gathering, demonstration, performance, class, etc. taking place in Rittenhouse Square without the appropriate permits will be disbanded by the park ranger and/or police.

Please visit our Rules page for more information on the rules and regulations for Rittenhouse Square. There is no soliciting or vending within the park.

You can find more information on the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation permitting process at or by calling 215-685-0060. The city and Public Health Department may require additional permits.
